One of the highlights of this year's Open Day in Germany, was
the first presentation of the new Combisafe Safety Award.
This new annual award is presented to outstanding construction
projects in Central Europe, which are characterised by:
- The use of Combisafe Systems onsite
- Total safety onsite, with no incidents or accidents throughout
all construction phases
- A unique, innovative or challenging design
- Outstanding team work throughout the whole project
This year, the award went to Heijmans and JP van Eesteren vof,
for their construction project "Bestuurskantoor Utrecht Rabobank"
in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
"Bestuurskantoor Utrecht Rabobank" is the new 28-storey Rabobank
HQ in Utrecht, that consists of two 105m high towers joined in the
middle, and a large underground car park. When completed in 2010,
the building will be one of the greenest buildings in the
Netherlands, due to its special insulation system and exclusive
hot-and-cold-storage system.
"The design of the building was very interesting and challenging
for Combisafe. We had to provide temporary edge protection for a
round structure, as well as develop a special solution that allowed
concrete to be poured on top of the building, without damaging the
glass façade on the floors below.", Marc Vogely, Area Manager
BeNeLux.
