Purchased by Sir Winston Churchill in 1922, Chartwell House was his home for over 40 years. Set in a beautiful valley in the Weald of Kent, Chartwell House is now owned by the National Trust and open to the public.
In a project worth over £0.5 million, the tiles and lead flashing of the complete roof must be removed, and the timber structure beneath repaired.
In order to complete the works during the winter closure of the property, complete encapsulation of the building, including a complex temporary roof up to 27m in span, was required to protect the interior from the weather.
