The innovative UBIX® temporary roofing system from Combisafe, offering unrivalled levels of safety and speed of installation, was chosen to protect the prestigious Kingsgate Shopping Centre, Huddersfield, for a major 11,000m2 first floor extension.

It was the perfect solution for main contractor Marshall (Building Contractors) Ltd of Elland West Yorkshire, faced with protecting the exposed elements of the existing shopping centre during building work and also needing to eliminate any damage to the stores below.

The project was made even more difficult as site access was severely restricted and disruption to both retailers and shoppers had to be kept to a minimum.

Company director, John Marshall confirmed that

"As the busy shopping centre remained operational throughout the construction process, we needed a temporary roofing solution that would have minimal effect on the shopping centre as a whole, existing retailers, staff and visitors.

Delivery and installation of a temporary roof had to be completed in just a matter of weeks, so working in collaboration with TRAD Hire and Sales Ltd (Stockport), leading developer of specialist scaffolding systems Combisafe successfully demonstrated that its UBIX® temporary roof system could meet all the challenges.
