COMBISAFE keeps safety on track at T6 development
A full height edge protection system from COMBISAFE ensured the highest standards of safety were delivered at the £40 million T6 student accommodation development – the tallest building at the £2 billion King’s Cross Central regeneration scheme and less than 20 metres from the station’s high speed train lines.
Due to its height and close proximity to the train lines – with up to eight trains passing each hour – protection from falling or blown material onto the tracks was a prerequisite. COMBISAFE’s reliable and versatile Steel Mesh Barriers offered a complete perimeter edge protection system for concrete frame contractor Getjar Limited and main contractor Balfour Beatty.
“Installed on the building’s rail elevations for over 10 months, the full height containment ensured nothing escaped at all,” said Allan Massey, Project Director at Balfour Beatty. “We worked collaboratively with the RC frame, cladding and window contractor to provide the safest and most efficient form of edge protection.”
